1.India, Germany to cooperate in skill development, river cleaning
 India and Germany on Monday agreed to prepare a roadmap for cooperation in skill development, solid waste management and cleaning of rivers as visiting Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier met Prime Minister Narendra Modi who described the two nations as “made for each other”.
During the meeting in New Delhi, Mr. Steinmeier conveyed Germany’s strong desire to work with the new government in India to further expand and deepen bilateral relations.

2. Jan Dhan Yojana opens a new door for RuPay gateway

As Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), the financial inclusion scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi late last month notches up impressive numbers and expects to meet its 7.5 crore accounts target well within 100 days, payment gateway RuPay is experiencing a boost in fortunes.
Payment gateways are platforms that help banks facilitate electronic money transfers. India is only the fourth country in the world after the US, Japan and China to have its own national payment gateway, in RuPay.
With the PMJDY getting nearly 2.5 crore new bank accounts within seven days of launch, each account holder gets a RuPay debit card along with his/her account.
As a result, RuPay is notching up numbers.

3. Semi high-speed train runs on eight more routes by year-end
 Following the successful trial run of a semi high-speed train between Delhi and Agra, railways is all set to replicate the exercise on eight more routes by the end of this year as it looks to reduce travel time for passengers.
The Railways has decided to introduce semi high-speed trains in nine sectors which would run at speeds of up to 160 kmph.
“We conducted the trial run at 160 kmph in the Delhi-Agra sector and it was successful. Similar trials will be conducted in the other identified sectors by this year end,” Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda said in New Delhi.
The trial of the semi high-speed train with 10 coaches was conducted in July and the first such service by the railways is expected to be introduced commercially by this November.
Besides Delhi-Agra, railways have identified eight more routes, including Delhi-Kanpur, Delhi-Chandigarh, Chennai- Hyderabad, Nagpur-Secunderabad and Mumbai-Goa, for which the service would be introduced.

 Indian capital markets may be riding high on positive investor sentiments, but the latest report by World Economic Forum (WEF) shows that the country has plunged 35 places to 62nd rank in terms of effective regulation of the stock exchanges.
The country, last year, stood at the 27th spot for effective regulation and supervision of securities exchanges.
South Africa is on the top followed by Finland, Hong Kong SAR, Luxembourg and Singapore in this category, says the report.
Besides, neighbouring countries Pakistan and China are also placed at a better position than India on the parameters at 51 and 58 positions, respectively.
