Indian Super League


The inaugural season of the country's premier football league will kick off on October 12th. Eight city-based teams from across the country will compete for the coveted trophy.

 Founding chairperson- Nita Ambani.

The teams are based in Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Kochi, Guwahati, Goa, Chennai and Kolkata. The Indian Super League is the brainchild of IMG-Reliance, Star India and the All India Football Federation.

Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar is the co-owner of Kochi based Kerala Blasters FC. Former England goalkeeper David James is Kerala's marquee player.
The Kolkata ISL franchise is co-owned by La Liga champions Atletico Madrid. Former India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly co-owns the Atletico de Kolkata franchise. Former Spanish international Luis Garcia is Kolkata's marquee player.

The Delhi Dynamos franchise is owned by Den Networks Chairman Sameer Manchanda. Dynamos have signed Italian World Cup winner Alessandro Del Piero as their marquee player.

The Chennaiyin FC franchise is co-owned by Abhishek Bachchan. They have signed former Brazilian international Elano as their marquee player. They also have Italian World Cup winner Marco Materazzi as their manager-cum-player.

Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor is the co-owner of the Mumbai City FC franchise and Arsenal legend Freddie Ljungberg is Mumbai's marquee player.

Salman Khan co-owns FC Pune City and they have signed France's David Trezeguet as their marquee player. FC Pune City also features Greece's WC 2014 captain Katsouranis

Indian cricket vice-captain Virat Kohli & Venugopal Dhoot co-own the FC Goa franchise. Bollywood star Varun Dhawan is FC Goa's brand ambassador Former France international Robert Pires is Goa's marquee player. The franchise is managed by legendary Brazilian footballer Zico

Northeast United FC is co-owned by Bollywood's John Abraham. And will play their home games in Guwahati. Spanish WC winner Joan Capdevila is the team's marquee signing.
