As many as 70.43 crore Aadhaar numbers have been generated by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) as on November 15, Parliament was informed today.
“A total of 70.43 crore Aadhaar have been generated in the country as on November 15,” Planning Minister Rao Inderjit Singh said in a written reply to Rajya Sabha.
The Aadhaar saturation level is more than 90 per cent in nine states and union territories (UTs), between 75 per cent and 90 per cent in another eight states/UTs. In the remaining twelve states/UTs, the Aadhaar saturation level is under 50 per cent, he said.
The Minister further said the government has allocated 24 states/UTs to UIDAI for Aadhaar enrolment and the remaining 12 states/UTs to Registrar General of India (RGI) for enrolment under National Population Register (NPR) process.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday launched the electronic visa facility for foreign tourists, which would make travel seamless and hassle-free in India.
The tourist visa on arrival by electronic travel authorisation (ETA) would be introduced in a phased manner at nine airports across the country: Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Goa. As many as 76 counters have been created for this at these airports.
The countries for which the facility will be extended will also be identified in a phased manner, a senior tourism ministry official said.
A foreign tourist will have to apply online at the Web site, upload a photo and passport and pay a fee online. In 72 hours, the applicant would receive an ETA by e-mail.
According to news reports, visitors from over 40 countries, including Israel, Palestine, Germany and the US, will be able to avail of the e-visa facility.
Countries currently enjoying the visa-on-arrival (VoA) facility include South Korea, Japan, Finland, Singapore, New Zealand, Indonesia, Myanmar, Vietnam and Laos. They are also set to come under the e-visa facility.

Governing body Cricket Australia (CA) confirmed the 25-year-old had lost his fight for life, casting a pall over a cricket-mad nation which is co-hosting the World Cup early next year.
"We are extremely sad to announce that Phillip Hughes has passed away at the age of 25," CA said on its Twitter feed.

President of India Pranab Mukherjee penned a book titled The Dramatic Decade: The Indira Gandhi Years. The book has been published by Rupa and will be released on 11 December 2014.
The Dramatic Decade is the first of a three-part volume; the second one will be on the years from 1981–88 and the third volume will be from 1988 to 2012.
The book Dramatic Decade provides an insight into the era of 1970s, the era that largely belonged to the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Years of 1970s are considered as a turning point in the political and economic evolution of India as this decade witnessed the India-Pakistan war, internal Emergency, economic reforms and the beginning of coalition politics in the country.
8. World Gold Council and IIMA collaborated set up India Gold Policy Centre
World Gold Council (WGC) and Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) collaborated to set up India Gold Policy Centre to conduct research on all aspects of the domestic gold industry. The decision was announced by WGC and IIMA
The objective of centre is to develop insights into how the significant stocks of gold India owns can be used to advance growth, employment, social inclusion and economic wealth of the nation.
9. Boxer Manoj Kumar received Arjuna Award
Boxer Manoj Kumar on 26 November 2014 received the prestigious Arjuna Award. The 2010 Commonwealth Games gold-medalist was given the award by Union Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at a function in New Delhi.
Earlier, Manoj was denied the award by the Kapil Dev-led selection committee, as it believed that he was involved in a doping case. The committee recommended name of another boxer Jai Bhagwan for the coveted honour.

Michael Phelps was crowned Male Athlete of the Year at the 2014 USA Swimming Golden Goggle Awards on 24 November 2014. He was crowned with the title for a fifth time.
Earlier, he won the title in 2004, 2007, 2008 and 2012. He was awarded with the title despite being suspended from competition for six months after a drunken driving arrest in September 2014.
12. E-visa facility for foreign tourists launched
Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday launched the electronic visa facility for foreign tourists, which would make travel seamless and hassle-free in India.
The tourist visa on arrival by electronic travel authorisation (ETA) would be introduced in a phased manner at nine airports across the country: Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Goa. As many as 76 counters have been created for this at these airports.
The countries for which the facility will be extended will also be identified in a phased manner, a senior tourism ministry official said.
A foreign tourist will have to apply online at the Web site, upload a photo and passport and pay a fee online. In 72 hours, the applicant would receive an ETA by e-mail.
According to news reports, visitors from over 40 countries, including Israel, Palestine, Germany and the US, will be able to avail of the e-visa facility.
Countries currently enjoying the visa-on-arrival (VoA) facility include South Korea, Japan, Finland, Singapore, New Zealand, Indonesia, Myanmar, Vietnam and Laos. They are also set to come under the e-visa facility.
