1. HDFC Bank launches mobile app Chillr for instant money transfers
HDFC Bank  launched Chillr, a mobile app that allows users to instantly transfer money to any contact in their phonebook.
The bank has partnered with MobME, a Kochi-based technology firm, to launch this app.
Chillr is a first-of-its kind application that is linked directly to customers’ bank accounts. With Chillr, the bank’s customers can transfer money to any person in India once they download the app and register.The app works on the Android and iOS operating systems and will soon be launched for the Windows phone as well.
The app is useful for college students and young professionals. Parents whose children study in other cities can transfer money via the app. Soon users will also be able to pay utility bills and various merchants via the mobile, HDFC Bank said in a statement.
Each transaction will be charged Rs. 3.50. There is a limit of 10 transactions of Rs. 5,000 and a maximum of Rs. 50,000 in a month, according to company officials.

2. New ED for Andhra Bank
Ajit Kumar Rath has joined Andhra Bank as an Executive Director.
Before the present assignment, Rath had served as General Manager (IT) and chief information officer in Union Bank of India. He has more than 20 years of experience in the area of information technology. He is on the Board of Swift India domestic Services Pvt Ltd and member of Technical Advisory committee of NPCI and Star Union Dai-Ichi, according to a release.

3. Govt to revisit ‘Jan Aushadhi’ scheme to expand reach
The ‘Jan Aushadhi’ scheme which seeks to provide quality medicine at affordable price, is being revisited to expand its reach across the country, the Rajya Sabha was informed today.
Under the scheme, medicine stores were opened across the country but only 96 are functioning as on date, Health and Family Welfare Minister J P Nadda informed the House.
“The scheme is, therefore, being revisited to expand its reach across the country,” he said in a written reply.
The details are being worked out by the Bureau of Pharma Public Sector Undertakings of India (BPPI) in consultation with Department of Pharmaceuticals, he said. The minister said BPPI has prescribed certain norms for bidders and suppliers to ensure quality in medicine procurement.
The aim of ‘Jan Aushadhi’ scheme is to make available quality medicines at affordable prices for all, especially the poor and the disadvantaged.
Under this campaign, less priced quality unbranded generic medicines will be made available through Jan Aushadhi stores which inherently are priced low but of equivalent quality, efficacy and safety as compared to branded generic medicines.

4.Ashu Suyash appointed as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of CRISIL 
Credit Rating Information Services of India Limited (CRISIL)  announced to appoint Ashu Suyash as the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company.
Her appointment was confirmed by the Board of Directors of the Company.She will succeed Roopa Kudva and will take charge from June 2015. Rupa Kudva was the MD and CEO of CRISIL from 2007 to September 2014. She had joined CRISIL in 1992.
Ashu has over 26 years of experience in the Indian financial services industry. She currently is the CEO of L&T Investment Management Ltd. She was appointed to this post following the acquisition of Fidelity Worldwide Investment’s India Asset Management business by L&T Investment Management Ltd.
CRISIL is an Indian unit of Standard & Poor.

5. Indian researcher wins woman of the year 2015 in New South Wales
A 56-year-old Indian pancreatic cancer researcher in Australia has been named New South Wales Woman of the year 2015 for her contributions to medical research, tertiary education and the Indian community.
Minoti Apate, researcher at University of New South Wales (UNSW) received the award from NSW Premier Mike Baird and Minister for Women Pru Goward during a reception at NSW Parliament House recently.
“Alongside her impressive career successes, Apte is an active member of the Marathi Association of Sydney, an organisation that serves Sydney’s significant Indian population,” said Premier Baird, adding that her achievements inspire other women to follow in her footsteps.

6. Haryana Assembly Passes Bill Banning Cow Slaughter, Sale of Beef
The Haryana Assembly  unanimously passed a bill under which cow slaughter and the sale of beef have been banned in the state. The new law will also promote conservation and development of indigenous breeds of cows and establish institutions to keep, maintain and take care of the infirm, injured, stray and uneconomic cows.
As per the Haryana 'Gauvansh Sanrakshan and Gausamvardhan' Bill, 2015, which was passed with two amendments, a person found guilty of cow slaughter can get rigorous imprisonment not less than three years, which may extend upto 10 years along with a fine ranging from Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 1 lakh.
Any person who exports cows for slaughter either directly or through somebody can get rigorous imprisonment not less than three years which may extend upto seven years, along with a fine from Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 70,000.

7. Facebook acquires shopping search engine TheFind.com
Facebook (NASDAQ:FB), with its ambitions of forever staying relevant just like fashion, which always changes, but never goes out of popularity, has made a smart move by going in for the acquisition of ‘TheFind.com‘, which is a search engine for shoppers.Facebook announced that it has bagged the personalized search engine for shoppers in order to help improve the relevance and targeting of advertisements shown on its social networking website, ‘Facebook.com TheFind.com is a search engine that provides discovery services to its online visitors who are looking for products on sale. Founded in 2006, as FlatLens Inc., the website initially offered only ticket discovery services to visitors. It was re-launched very soon in the same year as TheFind.com after the company’s honchos decided to include more product categories.

8. Skill Olympiad: Ahmedabad car-painter to represent India in Brazil
A 19-year-old youth has emerged hot favorites among youth what with his car-painting skills giving him the ticket to represent India at WorldSkills International Competition 2015, to be held at Sao Paulo, Brazil, from August 11 to 16 this year.
Dinesh Kumar Prajapati, an ITI-passout in Ahmedabad, was declared winner in the car painting skills at the finals of WorldSkills India, 2015, held recently in Delhi. Apart from him, 20 other youths were selected for their skills in 18 different categories to represent India at Brazil.
The biennial competition, popularly known as Skill Olympiad, is the only international competition for fostering the development of skills among the youth.

9. SEBI to take action against companies with no woman director: Govt
Market regulator SEBI will take ‘necessary’ action against listed firms which fail to appoint at least one woman director on their boards by the end of this month, Parliament was informed today.
The capital markets watchdog had issued guidelines in February last year asking companies to appoint at least one woman director on their board by October 1, 2014, which was later relaxed to April 1, 2015.
“SEBI will take necessary action when the compliance position by companies is known after March 31, 2015,” Minister of State for Finance, Jayant Sinha, said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.
According to an estimate, nearly one-third of the top-500 listed companies do not have any female representation on their respective boards.
With just a fortnight left to meet the deadline, SEBI has written to more than 160 such companies to ensure compliance.
After SEBI’s direction in February last year, many companies had stepped up efforts to have women directors on their boards and nearly 500 female members were nominated to the boards till December 2014, although many of them happen to be family members of the promoters.

10. Vodafone introduces bill payment facility through post offices in Kerala
Vodafone India, in collaboration with Adharva Associates, has introduced post-paid bill payment facility through computerized post offices in Kerala.
This first of its kind initiative has been launched at post offices in order to make bill payments easy and secure and for customers irrespective of their location. This facility is available at 125 computerised post offices and over the coming months, the company is looking at extending it to cover all the 1,500 computerised post offices in Kerala. Currently Vodafone offers prepaid recharges facilities in over 700 post offices in the state, S.Murali, Business Head – Kerala, Vodafone India said.
