2. Nuclear-capable Agni-III ballistic missile test-fired successfully
India today successfully test-fired its nuclear-capable Agni-III ballistic missile with a strike range of more than 3,000 km from Wheeler Island off the Odisha coast.
The indigenously developed surface-to-surface missile was test-fired from a mobile launcher at launch complex-4 of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Wheeler Island by the Army at about 0955 hrs, defence sources said.
“The trial, carried out by the Strategic Forces Command (SFC of the Indian Army), was fully successful,” ITR Director M V K V Prasad told PTI.Logistic support for the test was provided by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
“It was the third user trial in the Agni-III series carried out to establish the ‘repeatability’ of the missile’s performance,” a DRDO official said.
For data analyses, the entire trajectory of today’s trial was monitored through various telemetry stations, electro-optic systems and sophisticated radars located along the coast and by naval ships anchored near the impact point, the sources said.
The Agni-III missile is powered by a two-stage solid propellant system. With a length of 17 metres, the missile’s diameter is 2 metres and launch weight is around 50 tonnes.
3. RBI allows differential interest rate on depositsBanks may soon pay you more interest if you place a "without pre-mature
withdrawal deposit" of more than Rs. 15 lakh.
The Reserve Bank of India on Thursday said banks will have the discretion to offer differential interest rates based on whether the term deposits are with or without-premature-withdrawal-facility, subject to conditions.
While all term deposits of individuals (held singly or jointly) of Rs. 15 lakh and below should, necessarily, have premature withdrawal facility, the RBI said for all term deposits above Rs. 15 lakh banks can offer deposits without the option of premature withdrawal as well.
"Banks will pay more interest to depositors who exercise the without premature withdrawal option," said a senior public sector bank.
Banks should disclose in advance the schedule of interest rates payable on deposits, that is, all deposits mobilized by banks should be strictly in conformity with the published schedule, the RBI said.
The banks should have a Board approved policy with regard to interest rates on deposits including deposits with differential rates of interest and ensure that the interest rates offered are reasonable, consistent, transparent and available for supervisory review/scrutiny as and when required.

The agreement was reached during the meeting of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Makei with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi. He also met with President Pranab Mukherjee. Makei was on a three-day official visit to India from 14 April to 16 April 2015 on the invitation of Swaraj.

The fourth Lighthouse Museum of India will be opened at Kannur, Kerala to promote lighthouse tourism. The Directorate General of Lighthouse and Lightships (DGLL) announced on 14 April 2015 to open the museum by the end of April 2015.The other three lighthouses museums have been set up at Alappuzha in Kerala and Chennai and Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu.
DGLL has set up the Kannur lighthouse museum adjacent to the historic Kannur lighthouse in Payyalmbalam beach, a few kilometres away from Kannur town. The museum will depict the story of its evolution and history.

12. BHEL and Russian firm INTMA inked MoU to set power plant in Kazakhstan

2015 signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to set up a gas-based
power project in Kazakhstan.
According to the MoU, the two parties
will endeavour to assist each other in the implementation of the deal.
The MoU aims to set forth a path to combine the BHEL's competence in
design and manufacturing of power plants and INTMA's strength in
handling EPC contracts so as to bid and execute projects of mutual
interest in Russia and Kazakhstan.
