1. Mohun Bagan snatch I-League title with dramatic late equaliser against Bengaluru FC
Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan clinched their maiden I-League title and their first domestic championship in 13 years after managing a 1-1 draw against defending champions Bengaluru FC at Kanteerva Stadium.
Bello Rasaq scored the equaliser to give Bagan the much-needed point and pocket their fourth national title. The title also ended their five-year trophy drought.
Incidentally, it was Nigeria's Abdul Saliu, who scored the winning goal for Bagan in the 2001-02 National Football League title, and this time too a Nigerian in Rasaq scored the much-needed goal.
Bengaluru's John Johnson drew first blood in the 41st minute as the hosts hung on to the lead into the first half. Bagan fans were nearly lost for breath when Rasaq scored the equaliser in the 87th minute to bring them back to life. Rasaq headed the ball past the resplendent Bengaluru goalkepeer Ralte to start the celebrations back home in the City of Joy.

2. Bangladesh Liberation War award for Vajpayee
Bangladesh is set to honour former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee for his outstanding support for the country’s independence from Pakistan in 1971 when he was a Lok Sabha member.
A Foreign Ministry spokesman familiar with the process said Bangladesh will hand over Vajpayee’s “Friends of Bangladesh Liberation War Award” to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his upcoming visit to the country from June 6. Mr. Vajpayee, who is unwell, could not visit Bangladesh to receive the honour.
“From the very beginning of the Liberation War (in 1971), he (Vajpayee) took a firm stand in favour of Bangladesh’s independence... as the then president of Bharatya Jana Sangh and Lok Sabha member he mobilised campaign at home and in international arena for the rights of Bangladesh’s people,” the official said.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also approved a proposal to honour the families of the members of Indian armed forces for sacrificing their lives for the cause of Bangladesh’s independence.
Officials said Dhaka decided to send the martyrs’ family members a letter alongside a certificate to be signed by Ms. Hasina expressing tributes for their contributions.
Indira Gandhi was the first “foreign friend” to be conferred with the ‘Bangladesh Liberation War Honour Award’. Sonia Gandhi received the honour on her behalf in 2012 at a special ceremony.
Most of the subsequent recipients were also from India with President Pranab Mukherjee being one of them.

3. Dilwar Singh of Haryana wins Pedal for Kashmir cycling race
Dilawar Singh of Haryana has won ‘Pedal for Kashmir’ cycling competition, held along the banks of picturesque Dal Lake in Srinagar.
During this cycling, Singh pipped local champion Mohammad Akbar Khan who came runner up, followed by another local cyclist Mohammad Adil Teli.
While in the under-19 category of the competition for Boys, Mohit Kumar won the first prize. Wahid Ahmad Ganie was placed second, while Amir Sadiq Gojriin finished third.
In the girls under-19 category, Komal Deshmuk from Maharashtra, beat local girl Bushra Ali to the first position. State Minister for Public Works Altaf Bukhari gave away the prizes to the winners.
This edition of Pedal for Kashmir cycling competition was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police (JKAP). In this event around 2000 cyclists, including those of national and international repute had participated.

4. Federal Bank launches mobile-based payment app
Federal Bank has launched Scan N Pay, a mobile-based payment app for making any kind of payments.
The comfort and convenience of a mobile, simplicity of a QR (Quick Response) code, credibility of IMPS (Immediate Payment Service) facility from NPCI (National Payment Corporation of India), and the security of MPIN (Mobile PIN) – all converges into this new application.
The app was launched by A.P.Hota, Managing Director and CEO of NPCI,  at Federal Experience Centre near Cochin International Airport, Nedumbassery.
Scan N Pay is a world-class utility developed in-house by the bank. It is currently enabled on Android phones and will shortly be made available on iOS, Windows and BlackBerry phones, a press statement issued here said.
Though Scan N Pay will be initially available for Federal Bank customers, the bank has plans to onboard customers of other banks that offer General IMPS service from NPCI.
The app is freely downloadable from app stores and the activation process is simple. It is the same for merchants/Web sites and customers; all hassles related to manual payments like long queues, coin shortage, soiled notes etc. are dispensed with; all hiccups associated with card payments such as the need for carrying cards, pos machine faults, need for signature on receipts, safe keep of receipts, card frauds etc. are done away
with.

5. YTS launches mobile based salary payment solution
 Mobile money service provider YTS Solutions introduced MoSa Pay - a mobile based online salary disbursement solution targeted at small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
With its new product, MoSa Pay provides access to mobile wallets to customers in lower income groups for effective and timely disbursement of salaries, YTS said in a statement.

6. Deepika Kumari stuns Chang Hye-Jin, wins bronze at Antalya Archery World Cup
Archer Deepika Kumari stuns world number 8, Chang Hye Jin, to win bronze medal in Women's Recurve event at Antalya Archery World Cup.
Deepika beat the South Korea in straight sets 6-2 (26-25, 29-26, 26-28, 28-27) to stamp her authority.
Earlier, the 20-year-old archer put up a brave fight in the semi-finals but was denied a place in the final by Olympic gold medallist Ki Bo Bae of Korea.
Deepika was the only Indian who made it to the last four as veteran Dola Banerjee, Satbir Kaur and Snehal Divakar all lost in the first round in individual women’s recurve competition.

7. Fourth North East Youth Festival concluded in Jorhat district of Assam
The 4th North East Youth Festival concluded at Majuli in Jorhat district of Assam. The Governor of Assam was the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony of the Festival.
The three day long festival was organized by the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) on behalf of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
The festival was inaugurated by Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilisers, Ananth Kumar on 29 May 2015.
About 2100 youth delegates from eight North East States participated in the festival.
The North East Youth Festival is organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sport with the objective to foster National Integrity and to know each other better through exchange of culture besides promoting rich cultural heritage of various tribes and people of North Eastern States.
• The first North East Youth Festival was held at Kohima, Nagaland from 8 -10 October 2009
The second North East Youth Festival was held at Shillong, Meghalaya from 7-9 April 2011
• The third North East Youth Festival was held at Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh from 7-9 November 2012

8. World No Tobacco Day 2015: Stop illicit trade of tobacco products
Every year, on 31 May, WHO and partners mark World No Tobacco Day (WNTD), highlighting the health risks associated with tobacco use and advocating for effective policies to reduce tobacco consumption.
For World No Tobacco Day 2015, we are calling on countries to work together to end the illicit trade of tobacco products.
Goals of the WNTD 2015 campaign
* Raise awareness on the harm to people’s health caused by the illicit trade in tobacco products, especially the youth and low-income groups, due to the increased accessibility and affordability of these products due to their lower costs.
* Show how health care gains and programmes, tobacco control policies, like increased tax and prices, pictorial health warnings and other measures are undermined by the illicit trade in tobacco products.
* Demonstrate how the tobacco industry has been involved in the illicit trade of tobacco products.
* Highlight how the illicit trade of tobacco products is a means of amassing great wealth for criminal groups to finance other organised crime activities, including drugs, human and arms trafficking, as well as terrorism.
*  Promote the ratification of, accession to and use of the Protocol to Eliminate Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products by all Parties to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC) and its early entry into force through the active involvement of all relevant stakeholders.

9. Punjab to observe 2015-16 as ‘year of development
As a part of Punjab government’s efforts to give further fillip to the “all round development of the State the year 2015-16 will be observed as the “year of development“.
“The year 2015-16 will be observed as ‘year of development’ and the State government has been already making concerted efforts for the overall development of the urban and rural areas, Mr. Badal said in Dhuri Assembly segment.
During this phase, focus of the State government will be to provide ultra modern civic amenities to the people in urban and rural areas,
“All round development of the State is the foremost priority of the SAD-BJP alliance government for which a major scheme has already been embarked upon, which will be implemented in the current fiscal,
“In urban areas our focus will be on providing the facility of water supply, sewerage, Sewerage Treatment Plants (STPs), streetlights, roads and parks whereas in rural areas provision of roads, potable drinking water, disposal of waste water and toilets will be our thrust areas
