1. Kapil Mishra appointed as Chairman of Delhi Jal Board
Delhi Law Minister Kapil Mishra was appointed as the Chairman of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB). He succeeded Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
Earlier, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung administered oath of office and secrecy to Kapil Mishra as a Law Minister in Delhi Cabinet. Mishra was inducted in the Cabinet following the resignation of Jitender Singh Tomar as Law Minister.
Tomar resignation came following his arrest by Delhi Police in connection with his fake degree case.
Mishra is an AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) MLA from Karawal Nagar who won by a margin of over 44000 votes in 2014 Delhi Elections.

2. Denmark’s Mogens Lykketoft elected as President of UN General Assembly  
The United Nations General Assembly unanimously elected Denmark's former parliament speaker Mogens Lykketoft as president of its 70th anniversary session where he said his top priorities will be to ensure that world leaders "join hands" to eradicate extreme poverty, keep climate change at bay, and promote economic growth.
Lykketoft, who will start his year-long presidency in September, said he also wants leaders gathering for the anniversary in late September to "focus on the road ahead for peace, security and human rights."
The current assembly president, Sam Kutesa of Uganda, announced Lykketoft's election by acclamation on Monday as diplomats from the U.N.'s 193 member states burst into applause.

3. Harbhajan Singh became 9th highest wicket-taker in Test Cricket
Indian off-spin cricketer Harbhajan Singh  became the ninth all-time highest Test wicket-takers by claiming 416 wickets in 102 matches.
In this process, he surpassed Pakistani legend Wasim Akram who stood at the ninth position with 414 wickets in 104 matches. He achieved the landmark quicker than Akram.
He achieved the feat after dismissing Imrul Kayes for 72 to reach 415 Test victims, one more than Akram.
Now, Harbhajan nicknamed as Turbanator is just 20 wickets short of equalling Kapil Dev’s 434 Test wickets record, the second highest wicket-taker in history of Indian Test Cricket after Anil Kumble’s 619 wickets.

4. India inks landmark MVA with Bhutan, Bangladesh and Nepal 
India  signed a major motor vehicles pact with three SAARC nations -- Bhutan, Bangladesh and Nepal -- that will enable seamless transit of passenger and cargo vehicles among them.
A similar pact is on the anvil among India, Myanmar and Thailand that will pave the way for greater economic cooperation in the Asian region. Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday signed the Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal (BBIN) Motor Vehicle Agreement (MVA) for Regulation of Passenger, Personal and Cargo Vehicular Traffic along with transport ministers of the other three nations at Bhutan's capital Thimpu.
Besides, in a major breakthrough, India, Myanmar and Thailand have agreed to develop a similar motor vehicle pact on the lines of the draft SAARC Motor vehicle agreement. The BBIN MVA will not only reduce transport costs, but also foster development of multi-modal transport and transit facilities, enabling increased connectivity and promotion of greater trade between the four countries.

5. Taj Mahal becomes wi-fi zone; free for first 30 mins
Tourists visiting the Tajmahal can now access wi-fi service for free for the first 30 minutes as the facility was formally launched by Communications and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad today.
After free usage limit of 30 minutes, a customer can continue using the service on paid basis for which subscription plans are available in various denominations, the Communications and IT ministry said in a statement.
The facility has been set up by state-run operator BSNL with the optical fibre backbone which can provide high internet speed of up to 100 Mbps, it said.
As part of the Digital India programme, the government is working towards enabling all cities with a population of over one million and tourist centres with wi-fi hotspots.

6. Union Government launched Augmented Reality Application named Sakaar
The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North-Eastern Region (DoNER) Jitendra Singh launched an Augmented Reality (AR) application named Sakaar to highlight the achievements of the Department of Space.
The application has been developed by Development and Educational Communication Unit (DECU) of ISRO for Android devices.
Sakaar consists of 3D models of MOM, RISAT, rockets (PSLV, GSLV Mk-III); videos of INSAT 3D-predicting cyclones, GSLV D5/Cryo, Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) orbit insertion, launch video of MOM, 360 degree animated view of MOM; Anaglyph of Mars surface.
The Multimedia content of the Sakaar app is generated with the support of multimedia & editing facilities of DECU-ISRO.

7. Indian Railways rechristened Haridwar Mail as Yoga Express
Indian Railways rechristened train No 19031/19032 Ahmedabad-Haridwar Mail Express also known as 'Haridwar Mail' as Yoga Express. The name was changed with immediate effect.
However, there will be no change in the train timings and its composition.
Union Government is observing International Yoga Day on 21 June 2015.

8. Tanzanian President Kikwete to visit India between June 17-21
The President of Tanzania, Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, is to pay a state visit from June 17-21, the Ministry of External Affairs announced on Today. The statement adds that the visiting dignitary will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including ministers, senior officials, apart from a senior business delegation.
India is the largest trading partner of Tanzania with bilateral trade in 2013-14 being valued at more than $4 billion. Apart from trade relations, India is also an important destination for Tanzanians seeking high quality healthcare and education, the statement adds.
Indians form the largest expatriate community in Tanzania with over 60,000 People of Indian Origin (PIOs) living and working in that country. In addition there are approximately 10,000 Indian expatriates in the country.
