The Board of Bharti Airtel, India's largest telecom firm, today approved an arrangement for takeover of consumer mobile business of Tata Teleservices, in a deal involving issue of equity and preference shares.
In October this year, the takeover of Tata Group's consumer mobile business by Airtel on a 'no-debt, no-cash basis' was announced by the two firms.
2. Rajya Sabha passes Companies Bill
With the Rajya Sabha also passing the Companies Bill on Tuesday, the enactment of crucial amendments, which are more than 40, to the 2013 law will be a reality as soon as President Ramnath Kovind signs on it.
The Lok Sabha had cleared the amendments in the Monsoon Session of Parliament.
3. India, Myanmar ink pact for socio-eco development of Rakhine State
India and Myanmar today inked an agreement on restoration of normalcy and development of the Rakhine State, from where thousands of Rohingya Muslims recently fled following incidents of violence against the community.
Signed between Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar and Myanmar Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement U Soe Aung in Myanmar’s capital Nay Pyi Taw, this is the first government to government pact inked by Myanmar with a cooperation partner focused on socio-economic development and livelihood initiatives in the Rakhine State.
4. World Bank provides loans of $125 m for STRIVE project
World Bank has committed $125 million (around ₹800 crore) loan to India for the STRIVE project for skill development.
The objective of the operation (Skills Strengthening for Industrial Value Enhancement) is to improve access to quality and market-driven vocational training as well as apprenticeships.
5. Announces Relief Package for Cyclone Ockhi Affected States
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Ockhi affected Lakshwadeep, Tamil Nadu and Kerala to take stock of the situation, meets affected people. He announced the relief package of Rs 325 crore for all 3 states and ex-gratia assistance of Rs. 2 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased.
