1. PM Modi meets President Vladimir Putin
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin met on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum and discussed ways to further cement the special and privileged Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
Modi, who arrived in Russia on a two-day visit during which he will also attend the Eastern Economic Forum, is the first Indian prime minister to visit to the Russian Far East Region.
2. Delhi slips 6 notches in world's most liveable cities ranking owing to climate change
The national capital has dropped by six places to rank 118th on a list of the world's most liveable cities due to increase in cases of petty crimes and poor air quality, an annual survey by the Economist Intelligence Unit.
While New Delhi registered the biggest decline in Asia, Mumbai also fell two places since last year to rank 119th on the list topped by Vienna (Austria) for the second consecutive year.
3. Misbah-ul-Haq appointed Pakistan's head coach, chief selector
Pakistan appointed former captain Misbah-ul-Haq as head coach and chief selector in a bid to lift the national team's performance.
The nation failed to reach the semi-finals of the 2019 World Cup in July, prompting the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) not to renew head coach Mickey Arthur's tenure.
4. ‘Ashok Leyland’s heavy duty trucks becomes 1st to get BS-VI certification
Commercial vehicle major Ashok Leyland announced that its entire range of heavy duty trucks has been upgraded to meet BS-VI emission norms, which come into force from 1 April 2020. With this upgradation the leading truck and bus maker Ashok Leyland has become 1st Indian original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to meet BS-VI emission norms across its entitre range of heavy duty trucks (gross vehicle weight of 16.2. tonne and above).
5. IAF inducts 8 US-made Apache AH-64E helicopters at Pathankot Air Force station
The Indian Air Force inducted 8 Apache AH-64E attack helicopters at Pathankot Air Force station. The Apache AH-64E helicopters are made by US company Boeing and will give a major boots to combat capabilities of Indian Air Force.
6. Rishabh Pant: Fastest Indian wicket-keeper to claim 50 dismissals in Test cricket
Rishabh Pant became fastest Indian wicket-keeper to claim 50 dismissals in Test cricket. He broke previous record held by MS Dhoni for India. Pant claimed his 50th test dismissal in his 11th test during India vs West Indies. MS Dhoni had taken 15 tests to get to 50 Test dismissals.
